DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF)- Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) confirms a total of twelve dart employees have tested positive for COVID-19. Gordon Shattles with DART says it was mostly bus operators, one rail operator and two mechanics.
DART has ramped up cleaning efforts and has hand sanitizer, masks and gloves readily available for dart operators. “We always do a daily cleaning with all of our vehicles, we’ve expanded it, focusing heavily on high touch point areas a day,” said Shattles.
Shattles said the Red and Blue Line trains are being cleaned every hour and the Green and Orange line every hour and a half.
Dart officials said of the confirmed employees, three were hospitalized while the others self-quarantined at home. So far three have already returned to work after their required two-week quarantine.
“DART remains committed to doing everything possible to keep our patrons and employees safe and will continue enhanced cleaning protocols for buses, light rail and paratransit vehicles, as well as all DART office and maintenance facilities,” said Shattles.
