DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF NEWS)- In yet another effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the City of Dallas has decided to close all parks Easter weekend.
Dallas parks normally see a significant increase in visitors Easter weekend as families use them for pic-nics or Easter egg hunts.
Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson released a statement,
I would have loved for our community to be able to celebrate Easter in our wonderful parks, and I regret that we have to make this decision, said Mayor Johnson,But we cannot take the unnecessary risk of further crowding in our parks right now. We cannot afford to jeopardize the gains that I believe we are making in the fight against COVID-19 with the stay-at-home orders that we have in place.”
Park Rangers, Dallas Police, and other law enforcement agencies will be monitoring the city’s 397 parks all weekend.
Trails will however remain open.
The parks shut down Friday April 10th at 9 pm and re-open Monday the 13th at 7 am.
