Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins says Dallas County Still Needs Overflow Hospital

The Kay Bailey Hutchison Center in Dallas

DALLAS COUTNY (WBAP/KLIF NEWS)- The Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center in Dallas has been converted into an overflow hospital as COVID-19 rapidly spreads across the county, but it has yet to be used.

Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins says he received a letter from Governor Greg Abbott’s office accusing him of not wanting to use the federal resources offered.

But Jenkins wants to assure citizens that is not true, and the facility just does not to be used yet

“We don’t need to send people from a state of the art hospital to a convention center while we have 50% capacity,” said Jenkins.

Jenkins predicts that the convention center might have to be used within the next week, as the number of confirmed cases in Dallas County rises above 1100.
