SAGINAW (WBAP/KLIF)-Principals at Eagle Mountain Saginaw ISD made a video ensuring students that Graduations and Proms Scheduled for early May have not yet been cancelled due to COVID-19, and backup dates are chosen in case cancellation becomes inevitable.
Prom and graduation are two milestone events seniors celebrate, and this year will be no different for the EMS ISD Class of 2020.
“We want to assure you that your 13 years of dedication and achievement will not go unnoticed or unrecognized,” said Watson High School principal Melanie Stitt in the video.
“We want to do everything we can to celebrate your accomplishments,” added Saginaw High School principal Karen Pressley.
The EMS ISD online community reacted positively; the message reached nearly 30,000 and received 530 reactions on Facebook alone, including supportive comments from families.
“Y’all just have me crying buckets. I cannot say this enough: as the parent of a senior Class of 2020, this means so much to us that you guys are recognizing this huge milestone,” wrote Michele Youree Luney, a parent of a Boswell High School senior, in the comments of the district’s Facebook post.
