Feds Award $16-Million to Feed Older Texans During COVID-19

(WBAP/KLIF) — The Federal government has awarded over $16-million to Texas to provide meals to older residents.  The money is part of a $250-million Department of Health and Human Services grant that came as a result of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act.

H-H-S Secretary Alex Azar knows the elderly are hardest hit.  Azar says getting more funds to community organizations to deliver meals to older adults exemplifies the whole-of-america approach to combat covid-19.

He believes local leaders can best determine where to utilize the money.  The Trump Administration recognizes that older Americans need to be cared for amid the threat of COVID-19.
