(WBAP/KLIF) — The State of Texas is extending the expiration date of all driver licenses and I.D. cards until further notice. Governor Greg Abbott made the announcement after closing all Department of Public Safety offices, Thursday, but essential services will remain open.

Texans with driver licenses or I.D. cards that expire on or after March 13th are entitled to the extension. Those card holders will also be entitled to a 60 day grace period after the governor’s State of Disaster Declaration is lifted.
To increase the fight against COVID-19, the governor announced the closing of all D-P-S locations statewide. Abbott says the move is aimed at reducing the public spread of Coronavirus at government offices.
