ASSOCIATED PRESS – Long lines of international travelers anxious to return to the United States ahead of a complete stop of all flights to and from Europe are being reported at 13 airports designated by federal officials to screen international travelers for the Covid 19 virus.
Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is one of the 13 international arrival sites chosen by the federal government for Centers for Disease Control staffers screening for exposure to the pandemic virus. Dorothy Lowe of Longview reported being crammed in long lines for hours in each of several queues required to get through the airport and outside to fresh air.
DFW spokespersons suggest the delays are caused in part by a questionnaire from the Centers for Disease Control and Department of Homeland Security.
Federal officials say the reason behind these delays is of the utmost importance; trying to catch new cases of the corona virus before they are spread in passenger’s communities. Some passengers are reported saying they fear standing so closely in line with others returning from other countries than they do traveling internationally.
