Disgraced Hollywood Mogul Harvey Weinstein Sentenced to 23 Years in Prison

NEW YORK  (WBAP/KLIF News) – A New York judge sentenced disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein to 23 years in prison for rape and sexual assault.

A jury convicted him last month of raping a woman in a New York City hotel room in 2013 and forcibly performing oral sex on another woman in his apartment in 2006, according to the Associated Press.

The two victims claims were bolstered by similar reports of sexual misconduct from other women who testified, claiming they too were Weinstein’s victims.

Before Judge James Burke announced the sentence, the two women spoke in court.

According to reports, Weinstein also spoke to the judge, expressing remorse and said his life has been changed forever, that he hopes he can become a good man in prison and added that he thought the relationships were consensual.

Following Weinstein’s sentencing, Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance said the conviction and sentence sent a message to predators.

“We thank the court for imposing a sentence that puts sexual predators and abuse partners in all segments of society on notice.”
