DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Dallas County voters endured long lines and high wait times Tuesday while casting their ballot in the Texas primary election.
“I stood in line for three hours after work,” a Dallas man said. “And that was after I tried to other places on my lunch hour.”
Nearly two hours after polls closed at Anne Frank Middle School in North Dallas voters were dealing with more than 60 minute wait times.
“I’ve never waited this long to vote,” a regular of the polling place said. “But I waited because it’s my civic duty.”
Some people were forced to leave their spots in line to pick up their children after waiting in line for more than an hour.
The issues were widespread according to voters across the county. Dallas County has rolled out the new county wide polling system which may have been a contributing factor to the wait times. All Dallas County polling locations are open to all Dallas County voters, despite the voter’s address. Some polling places weren’t prepared for the big crowds.
