Associated Press WASHINGTON (AP) – President Donald Trump says 22 people in the U.S. have been stricken by the new coronavirus and additional cases in the United States are “likely.” Trump is providing an update on the virus after the first reported U.S. death Saturday, whom he described as a woman in her late 50s who was a high medical risk. He says that healthy Americans should be able to recover if they contract the new virus. The virus threat has spooked global markets and the public at large. Trump is cautioning that “there’s no reason to panic at all.” Trump is speaking a day after he denounced criticism of his response to the threat as a “hoax” cooked up by his political enemies.

Associated Press WASHINGTON (AP) – Associated Press Officials in Washington state say a man has died of COVID-19, the first such death in the United States. The new virus is a member of the coronavirus family and is a close cousin to the SARS and MERS viruses that have caused outbreaks in the past.
Most COVID-19 infections result in mild symptoms, including coughing and fever, though some can become more serious and lead to pneumonia.
Older people, especially those with chronic illnesses such as heart or lung disease, are especially vulnerable. Health officials think it spreads mainly from droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes, similar to how the flu spreads.
