FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF NEWS)- Republican Senator John Cornyn took a visit to Fort Worth Tuesday afternoon while on his campaigning trip around Texas.
With an unexpectedly high democratic voter turnout, the 2018 senate election had republicans shocked, including Senator John Cornyn.
“It was a two by four to the side of the head,” said Cornyn, “It was a wake up call.”
Now, Cornyn has shifted his focus to voters who are new to the Lone Star State.
“Make sure we reach out and listen to the concerns of people who moved here who perhaps haven’t lived here very long,” said Cornyn.
Despite the high number of new democratic voters, Cornyn seems confident in his ability to win the upcoming election.
“I’ve serve in the senate for a while now and I have a record that I am proud of,” said Cornyn.
Early voting will run until February 28th and the primary elections will be held March 3rd.
