Grand Prairie (WBAP/KLIF) – Grand Prairie Police were on the scene of the Budget Suites on NB Highway 360 overnight where a knife wielding man was shot by officers.
Mark Beseda with Grand Prairie Police says that around 1AM, multiple 9-11 calls came in reporting that man was threatening people with the knife. The onsite security for the business also reported that the man was chasing a security guard with the knife.
When officers arrived, Beseda said they tried to de-escalate the situation. The man was uncooperative and did not obey commands. He was shot by two officers as he approached them with the knife.
The suspect was described as white male. He was a long time resident of the Budget Suites.
