The rain led to ponding along I-45 near the I-30 East bound ramp near downtown Dallas during Wednesday’s morning rush, forcing drivers to approach with caution.
Some cars became submerged in water due to the fast accumulation of rain in some areas.
Meanwhile, Medstar said its crews were dealing with an influx of crashes between Tuesday and Wednesday morning.
The Tarrant County ambulance service said crews reponded to 45 injury crashes Tuesday and dealt with 5 simultaneous moving vehicle crashes by 7 a.m. Wednesday, including one rollover accident.
Medstar urges drivers to follow these tips when driving during heavy rain.
-
- Reduce your speed and keep your vehicle in control.
- Keep a safe distance from cars in front and along side of you.
- Concentrate on driving.
- Avoid sudden breaking.
- Avoid driving through high water.
- Make sure your tires have good treading and are properly inflated.
- Don’t use hazard lights when driving-only stop during an emergency.
- Change windshield wiper blades twice a year or every 6,000 miles.
- Don’t use cruise control or overdrive on wet roads.
