First American Dies of Coronavirus in Wuhan, China

WUHAN  (WBAP/KLIF News) – The U.S. Embassy announced that an American citizen diagnosed with Coronavirus has died at a hospital in Wuhan, China…the epicenter of the deadly outbreak.

The Centers for Disease Control said the person is 60 years old but did not provide any other information.

At least 908 people have died from the virus, mostly in China, and more than 40,000 people have been infected.

Hundreds of cases have been reported in two dozen other countries. There are 12 confirmed cases in the United States.

Last Friday, 250 Americans who were evacuated from Wuhan arrived at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio to be quarantined.

The CDC said the group will be held there for 14 days to make sure there is no spread of the virus from the group and to see that they’re managed safely.
