Is the Stock Market Affected by Coronavirus?

(WBAP/KLIF) — Experts are discussing the far-reaching affects of Coronavirus on the economy.  Coronavirus has infected 37-thousand people and caused 805 deaths (as of 2/8/2020). After a strong showing from the stock market in early January, the Coronavirus has put a cap on investor optimism.

According to financial adviser Spencer McGowan, the spread of the virus is affecting world travel as airline flights have been canceled and ships docked in port, all of which have impacted the stock market.

McGowan says if the cornonavirus continues to spread, it could further affect the stock market.  However, he feels that with vaccines and quarantining, virus containment is on the horizon.  That process should calm investment fears.  Even though the Coronavirus initially dropped the U.S. stock market, it quickly rebounded due to favorable news on the jobs market.
