DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The Dallas Police Association could take the Dallas Police Department to court after the department took disciplinary action against former members of the Vice Unit.
Association President Mike Mata says what the detectives were accused of falls under administrative problems and not integrity issues.
“This was an administration problem, this was a clerical problem, so we will appeal all these decisions and if necessary we will be filing a lawsuit,” Mata said.
The Dallas Police Department conducted an investigation lasting nearly three years.
“Members of this unit admitted to replacing confidential funds with gambling winnings and failed to place evidentiary or seized money and/or property into the property room, per departmental policy,” read a statement from the Dallas Police Department.
There was not enough evidence to prove any criminal offenses occurred.
Some officers though were still suspended without pay. Others received written reprimands.
