Mother Sues Dallas ISD After Son Was Shot and Killed At Basketball Game

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF NEWS)- Dallas ISD is under fire a week after a student was shot and killed at a high school basketball game. The mother of the victim, Dewana Mitchell, is now seeking legal action against the school district claiming that the lack of security played a key role in her son’s murder. Her attorney, Justin Moore, Agrees.

“We believe that the school district failed to keep Mr. Strickland also the other students and young people there at that stadium safe,” said Moore.

Superintendent of Dallas ISD, Michael Hinojosa, put into place new security measures to prevent this from happening again, including new metal detectors and prohibiting non-clear bags and purses. But Moore says it’s too late and they will file a lawsuit as soon as possible.
