(WBAP/KLIF) — MCKINNEY, TX — A recall election may be on the horizon for embattled Mckinney city councilman La’shadion Shemwell. A petition asking for a recall election of Shemwell was validated last night by city secretary Empress Drane.
Drane explained that Shemewll has two options.
That election would take place on May 2nd of this year. Mayor George Fuller feels the recall election is about character, lies, and an unwillingness of the community to accept inappropriate conduct by elected officials. Shemwell believes he is fighting for voters and trying to stop what he calls voter suppression. If Shemwell doesn’t resign, the McKinney City Council would be required to initiate a recall election at their January 21st meeting.
