Proposed Reverchon Park Project up for a Revote

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The Dallas City Council will reconsider the fate of a well known park during its meeting Wednesday afternoon.

Late last year private donors proposed renovating the baseball field at Reverchon Park into an event venue with more than 3,000 seats. But with a tie vote the City Council denied the project.

Park goers seem split on the fate of the park. Some, support the new venue as a way to improve the condition of the field.

“I’ve played on this field since high school and have watched it just go down and down and down,” Jerry Mecca said.

Others, fear what traffic and bright lights will mean for the park.

“You have light, you have sound, you have changes to the environmental factors to the park,” said a nearby resident of the park. “So there’s just an immense domino effect.”

Dallas City councilman David Blewett brought the possibility of the project back to life with the call for a revote.
