(WBAP/KLIF) — Three out of four people plan to return a Christmas gift they received this holiday season. Online retail platform Oracle polled nearly 16-thousand people and 77% of them indicated they are returning at least one gift.
After record sales for retailers this year, they now brace for the wave of after-Christmas returns. According to experts, returns are expected to peak at 1.9 million by January 2nd, a 26% rise over last season.
‘Doing It Right’s’ Valerie Sokolosky says saving packaging is key in completing both in-store and online returns successfully. Keeping product boxes, description tags, and pricing tags are essential. Some online retailers won’t accept returns if original packaging is not included or if returns aren’t completed in a timely manner.
Many people are also concerned with gift return etiquette when it comes to a loved one. Sokolosky says you may not want to return that gift just yet. She suggests keeping those gifts given by those who are close to you in order to prevent hurt feelings. The Do-It-Right pod-caster feels relationships matter most.
