DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The Dallas Regional Chamber is praising Congress for this week’s passage of the the U.S.-Mexico-Canada agreement.
“Ratification of the USMCA is critical to our economic future here in Texas because it will preserve and strengthen our trade ties to Canada and Mexico, which are by far the largest markets for Texas exports,” said Chris Nielsen, 2019 Chair of the Board, Dallas Regional Chamber. “Time is of the essence; a Senate vote should be taken swiftly.”
According to the DRC, not only did Canada and Mexico buy $137 billion of Texas’ exports last year, sales of Texas goods and services to our North American neighbors accounted for about 43% of our state’s total exports to the world.
“These are staggering numbers that will only grow with the implementation of the USMCA and ensure Texas continues to lead the nation in job creation,” Nielsen said.
