FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF)- The City of Fort Worth voted to have new management control operations at Cowtown Coliseum in the Stockyards.
The change of management could affect the weekly rodeos at the over 100-year-old historic coliseum
Residents fear the change may take away Fort Worth’s traditions.
“Our city council seems to be all about attracting as much tourism as humanly possible at whatever cost..they run the risk of doing away with a big part of history,” said Fort Worth resident Johnathan Stuart. “The rodeos at the Stockyards is someone very unique to Fort Worth and if it does go away then we just lot another piece of the hear of Fort Worth,” said Kristin Lee.
The plans for the coliseum under new management are unclear, but the rodeo may now only happen once or twice a month to make room for other programming and events, all in an effort to drive more usage of the coliseum.
