NASSAU BAY, Texas (WBAP/KLIF News) – The search continues for the man accused of killing a Nassau Bay police officer during a traffic stop Tuesday night.
Investigators said Sgt. Kaila Sullivan was hit by a car driven by 21-year-old Tavores Henderson as he sped off from a traffic stop.
Henderson had an outstanding warrant on a domestic violence charge at the time of the incident.
Sullivan was rushed to the hospital but later died from her injuries.
She’s the second Houston-area police officer to be killed in the line of duty in less than a week.
Last Saturday, the Houston Police Department’s Sgt. Christopher Brewster was fatally shot while responding to a domestic violence call.
When word of Sgt. Sullivan’s passing spread, numerous police departments statewide took to social media to show their support.
Heart-wrenching loss. Heaven gained a servant doing God’s work. She laid down her life while attempting to arrest a suspect wanted for domestic violence. May Sergeant Kaila Sullivan rest in eternal peace and glory in the presence of our maker. pic.twitter.com/ZIX2JTCfKd
