Homicide Rate In Dallas Could Reach Highest Level In More Than A Decade

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) –  It hasn’t happened for more than a decade, but it could happen by the end of 2019.  Dallas is on track to have at least 200 homicides this year, something that hasn’t happened for more than 10 years.  There have been 192 homicides so far this year.  The President of the National Black Police Association told WFAA TV, “the Dallas police department is understaffed and there aren’t enough officers to keep the streets safe.  We’re trying to do as much as we can.”  Meantine, Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall attended a second “listening session” Monday night.  Community leaders and residents used the meeting to discuss ideas on how to maintain a safer city.  Questions came up about trust, accountability and transparency.  Chief Hall said officers need to be held accountable.
