COLLIN COUNTY (WBAP/KLIF)- The Collin County Commissioners Court approved a resolution in support of the second amendment.
Collin County Judge Chris Hill said they approved this resolution to assure they will not take guns from lawful citizens even if liberal politicians threatened to do so. “Liberal politicians like Beto O’Rourke on the national scene, have declared that they want to take and confiscate firearms from lawful citizens…it may surprise some of you but there are some people in this state and country that find that offensive,” Hill said. Hill said the resolution reaffirms their oath to preserve and protect the constitution. “There are people in this community who have called on us to say will you as our elected officials, keep the oath of office or will you side with taking lawful firearms from folks by executive fiat,” he said. The resolution passed unanimously. Before the vote, citizens had a chance to speak. Some criticized the timing of having this resolution after an Allen High School student was killed by gun violence earlier this month and earlier this year, an Allen High School Alumni led a terroristic attack at an El Paso Walmart. Hill stressed that passing this resolution, by no means supports senseless shootings. “We stand against the criminal actions of criminal actors, we stand against racist attacks and we stand against religious attacks…if there is a place for us to link arms it is that,” he said.
The resolution is non-binding.
