Garland Police Issue Arrest Warrant In Deadly Hit and Run

GARLAND  (WBAP/KLIF News) – Garland Police have issued an arrest warrant for the suspect in a deadly hit and run at the intersection of Jupiter Road and Forest Lane last Thursday.

Investigators said Edgar Alfonso Ugalde was allegedly behind the wheel of the black four-door Ram Big Horn pickup truck when it crashed into 47-year-old Joyce Cawis’  Toyota 4Runner at a high rate of speed before leaving the scene of the crime.

When first responders arrived around 11:45 p.m., Cawis was unconscious and she later died from her injuries.

The warrant for Ugalde is for Failure to Stop and Render Aid.

Crimestoppers is offering an up to $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in this case.
