DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – A new documentary focused on the 20 year anniversary of the deadly bonfire collapse at Texas A&M University features a native North Texan.

During the early morning hours of November 18 1999, a longtime Aggie tradition turned tragic. The bonfire collapse killed 12 people and injured nearly 30 others. Many people thought John Comstock, a graduate of Jesuit College Preparatory School in Dallas, would be the 13th fatality but he survived after a long battle. The new film ‘The 13th Man’ focuses on Comstock’s journey.
“The documentary was great for even me to see because it showed how far I’ve come over the last 20 years,” Comstock said.
Comstock, who lost a leg in the collapse, credits a lot of his successes in life to the lessons he learned in recovery.
“Especially because I’ve decided I’m going to live a happy life and I’ve only got one shot at this,” Comstock said.
The film is being shown in theatres across Texas this week.
