DENTON (WBAP/KLIF)- The Texas Rangers filed an additional charge of aggravated assault of a public servant against the man accused in the shooting of a Denton police officer during a traffic stop last week.
That charge has been added to the existing charge of attempted capital murder of a police officer.
Jamie Beck 1st Assistant District Attorney for Denton County said 33-year-old Antwon Pinkston not only shot Denton officer Urbino Rodriguez Jr but also shot at another officer. “Information that we’ve received from the investigation is that Pinkston did fire upon Rodriguez’s backup officer,” Beck said.
Pinkston’s bond was also raised from $5 million to $6 million.
Police say Officer Rodriguez had two surgeries after being shot in the head and leg. They say he’s stable and slowly recovering. Police will give more updates on his condition later this week.
Michele Stacey was also arrested in connection to the shooting, she’s being held without bond for a parole violation.
