Microsoft Expanding Campus in Irving Las Colinas, Creating Over 500 jobs

IRVING (WBAP/KLIF)- Governor Greg Abbott announced Microsoft Corp. will be expanding its campus in Irving Las Colinas, bringing 575 new jobs to the area

Beth Bowman president and CEO of the Irving Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce said they are excited to secure this national competitive project.

“It’s a significant impact from an economic development perspective….the jobs and the average expected wages of the jobs just allows this community to continue to thrive in that manner,” said Bowman. Microsoft has been in Texas for more than two decades. Governor Abbott said this will further establish Microsoft’s Las Colinas site as a strategic regional hub in the area.  “Today’s investment by Microsoft is further evidence of Texas’ rise as a global technology hub,” said Governor Abbott. “Thanks to our world-class workforce and common-sense, free market economic model, companies like Microsoft are investing in the Lone Star State and creating high-paying jobs for hard-working Texans. I thank Microsoft for their continued investment and will continue to promote policies that expand these beneficial partnerships and bring more jobs to the Lone Star State.”

Microsoft plans to invest more than $31 million in the project. Bowman said technology jobs are critical for the business community in Irving. “This commitment and investment in our community speaks to the incredible asset, business climate and talent that we have right here at home in Irving Las Colinas,” Bowman said.

A timeline for the expansion has not been set yet.
