North Texas Father Reunited with Child Five Years After Disappearance

Michelle Lusk: Collin County Sheriff’s Office

MCKINNEY (WBAP/KLIF) – A North Texas father is reunited with his child five years after the child disappeared.

According to the Collin County Sheriff’s Office, Michelle Lusk lost a custody battle with the child’s father in 2014 and took off with the child. After an initial investigation the case went cold, but that changed this year.

“Our Criminal Investigations Lieutenant decided to reopen [the case] and take another look,” Captain Nick Bristow said.

Leads took investigators to Oklahoma where Lusk was found with the child and a man she recently married who is a registered sex offender. The child was returned to the father and Lusk was taken to jail.

Collin County Sheriff Jim Skinner credited the investigators assigned to the case for finding the child.

“These lawmen worked doggedly to recover this child and arrest the absconder,” Sheriff Skinner said.

He also thanked authorities in Oklahoma for their help on the case.
