Amber Guyger Found Guilty of Murder in Botham Jean’s Shooting Death

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Amber Guyger, the former Dallas police officer who shot and killed Botham Jean in his own apartment last year, has been found guilty of murder in the shooting.

Judge Tammy Kemp announced the verdict shortly before 10:45am on Tuesday just less than 24 hours after the jury was given the case on Monday.

The jury had the option of selecting manslaughter but elected to find Guyger guilty of murder.

Guyger claims she entered the wrong apartment when she shot Jean thinking he was an intruder.

The trial now moves into the punishment phase where the jury could sentence Guyger to anywhere from five to 99 years in prison.
