ARLINGTON (WBAP/KLIF)- Arlington Police are looking for the mother of the baby found in a suitcase next to a trash compactor at an apartment complex. Detective Morgan Speer with Arlington PD’s Crimes Against Children Unit said a neighbor heard a baby crying and found him still alive, stuffed in a suitcase. She said the baby was 4-6 weeks premature and when he was brought into the hospital he was only 2 hours old with the umbilical cord still attached. She said the baby is doing OK.
“Talking about how blessed that baby was the maintenance staff usually put all the trash laying out into the compacter and compact it..but he
was late for work today so that didn’t happen,” she said.
The baby is in custody of Child Protective Services. Speer says many officers and detectives have asked to adopt the baby. The department gave the baby the name ‘Jason’ until he goes to a new home.
She said their concern now is to find the mom and make sure she’s safe. Arlington Police have released photos of the evidence found by the dumpster. The suitcase, blanket and scarf are being processed for finger prints. If you know or have any information contact Arlington Police.
