Amazon Hosts first Career Day Event in Dallas, Thousands of Jobs Available

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF)- Thousands of North Texans pack the Frontiers Flight museum by the Dallas Love Field Airport for an Amazon Career Day event.

Amazon plans to fill 30,000 job openings throughout the U.S. including 1,300 in Texas and an additional 300 for the Amazon Air Hub coming to the Fort Worth Alliance Airport this October.

Some were unhappy with the venue size and event, others say even though they aren’t offering jobs on the spot, it’s still good to talk to recruiters and learn about job opportunities. “Everyone thought they were coming to get a job it’s not just information only…and having to wait in line for an hour for nothing,” said Jonathan Roe.

“I definitely expected it to be busy,” said Leanne Wright. “It’s nice they had snacks for us since lines are so long,” she said.

Laura Gunning with Amazon says though they aren’t accepting any resumes at the event, this is a good opportunity to meet recruiters face to face. “We have booths for dozens of organizations throughout the company and dozens of recruiters to explain job opportunities and what it’s like working for Amazon,” said Gunning.

Amazon will hold six Amazon Career Day events across the U.S. where candidates can learn more about the career opportunities with the company. There are jobs for people with all types of experience, education, and skill levels – from entry-level roles at Amazon’s fulfillment centers working with the latest robotics technology, software development engineers helping make Alexa smarter, or computer vision scientists building the technology behind Amazon Go.
