DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — Tarrant County Health officials say they’ve had eight reported cases of e-cigarette related lung illness. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports the cases are being investigated by state health officials.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says about 400 cases of vaping-related lung illnesses and six deaths have occured in 26 states.
New York and Michigan recently banned the sale of flavored e-cigarettes and nicotine pods. President Trump says he’d like to see a national ban on the sales of flavored vapors, which appear to be marketed to teens.
The Star-Telegram quotes State Health Services Department release: “Vaping is not safe for kids, youth or young adults. Most e-cigarettes contain nicotine, an addictive chemical that can affect brain development in the teens and 20s. Using nicotine in adolescence can harm the parts of the brain that control attention, learning, mood and impulse control.”
