JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA (WBAP/KLIF) – As Hurricane Dorian moved toward the U.S. east coast Monday, residents from Florida to the Carolina’s were asked to stay vigilant.

More than 2 million people were under mandatory evacuations on Labor Day. Many beaches were closed. Most restaruants and businesses along the scenic St. John’s River in Jacksonville opted not open and will remain closed until Dorian’s threat moves to the north.

“There’s a lot less people than even a normal work day,” said one Jacksonville resident. “I guess people understand that it’s better to be safe than sorry.

The NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars announced Monday that the team won’t practice again until Thursday because of the storm. The Atlanta Braves said that the orginazation is offering free tickets to a couple baseball games for evacuees who chose to move inland to Atlanta.

With each passing hour more preparations are being made up and down the Florida east coast. But, anxiety continues to grow with the uncertainty of Dorian’s path.
