(WBAP/KLIF) – Republicans are calling on democrats in the House to move the United States Mexico Canada Trade Agreement through Congress.
Senator Ted Cruz, speaking to the Chris Salcedo Show on KLIF sister-station WBAP, is joining an effort by Vice President Mike Pence to move it along.
“I think the votes are easily there in the senate to pass the USMCA but it depends on whether Nancy Pelosi will bring it up for a vote,” Cruz said.
There is also a question by republicans if democrats would be willing to give President Donald Trump a legislative victory so close to the 2020 election.
“A lot of us wonder if Nancy Pelosi is willing to bring it up if she wants to give President Trump any sort of victory just over a year out from an election. I don’t know the answer to that,” Cruz said on WBAP.
Vice President Pence has pointed out that both Canada and Mexico’s governments have been working on the agreement.
