Uber Could Move it’s Headquarters to Dallas, Bringing around 3,000 Jobs

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF)- Uber could soon open a headquarters office in Downtown Dallas. Uber plans to create 3,000 jobs and pay employees an average salary of at least $100,000 a year at the new office.

Uber has looked at other sites across the country and plans to open an office building in Deep Ellum.

Uber Officials gave WBAP/KLIF  a statement: “Uber is evaluating adding a significant number of jobs in Dallas and investing directly in the community. Our team is currently discussing the opportunity with state and local leaders and we hope to make a decision before the fall.”

Dallas County leaders plan to offer Uber a total of about $2.6 million in tax breaks and would give the company a tax abatement. Commissioners will vote on August 20th on the Tax Abatement agreement as an incentive. To receive this tax break, Uber must create at least 2,500 new jobs by 2023 and a total of 3,000 or more by 2025.

City leaders have declined comment until the decision and vote is final.
