DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF)- The Republican primary is underway as Republicans Floyd McLendon and Genevieve Collins have entered the race to challenge U.S. Representative Colin Allred for Dallas’ 32nd congressional district
More republicans may try to unseat Allred, including Pete Sessions who is considering a rematch, after Allred flipped the district to blue last year.
Allred says he’s focused on work and his new baby and is not gauging in the speculation. “One of the things about having a 6 month old baby and a new job like this is that I don’t have a lot time to gauge in speculation,” he said. “I really am trying to do the best I can in this role, I was elected to serve this community and I want to do that for as long as I can…We’ll let the voters decide when the time comes on whether or not they think I’m doing a good enough job,” Allred said.
Allred says he’s focused on lowering the cost of health care, working on infrastructure and serving on the veterans affair committee to serve veterans. “I think during these first 7 months, we’ve gotten off to a good start and I don’t know about the political outcomes but I’m really trying to find the areas of where I can deliver for this community. I’ve worked on a bi partisan basis on a lot of issues and we’ve got some more time to work on some things,” he said.
