PLANO (WBAP/KLIF News) – It’s the end of an era in Plano.

Residents will say goodbye to the iconic Collin Creek Mall at a party Friday night before it’s closed and demolished to create space for a new $1 billion mixed-use development.

The City of Plano’s Peter Braster said the event is way for citizens of all ages to remember Collin County’s first mall.

“It’s one last hurrah in the old mall space…last I heard about 4500 people have RSVP’d,” he said.

Patrons will be treated to an 80’s themed party, a costume contest and live music.

The new developer, Centurion American Development Group, will also give a presentation of what the space will look like once construction is completed.

The space will feature a hotel, shops, houses, apartments and restaurants.

Braster said the project is moving along smoothly.

“The planning and zoning went spectacularly well. The developer and the city had a great relationship working through all those issues and now we’re moving forward,” he said.

The party opens to the public at 6 p.m.
