Arlington City Manager Reviews Formal Complaint Alleging Police Chief Used Racial Slur

ARLINGTON (WBAP/KLIF)- Arlington City Manager reviews a formal complaint alleging police Chief will Johnson used a racial slur during a manger’s meeting.

Arlington City manager Trey Yelverton sent a letter to Chief Johnson saying the context the ‘N’ word was used was to urge staff regarding hate crime investigations. Yelverton says the reflection of the term was a fact within a criminal case and not a reflection of his personal view. He says Johnson didn’t violate the city’s personnel policy of conduct . the letter ends with “while i expect you to use better discretion in the manner you address this topic with staff and the community, I encourage your ongoing efforts on this important topic as continued vigilance is required.”
