Dallas Police Welcome Largest Recruiting Class in Recent History

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Training is officially underway for the largest Dallas Police Department recruiting class since 1991.

The class of 65 recruits comes amid a reported Police shortage and recent increased violent crime in the city.

“I served in the Navy and thought I could work for a Police Department that really needs the help and more Officers,” said Adam Kaczmarski of Fort Worth.

According to the Dallas Police Department, high recruiting numbers are the result of the Spring Recruitment Campaign which spanned all across the continental United States to find the best individuals to become Dallas Police Officers.

“We have recruits from coast to coast,” said Commander of the Personnel & Support Bureau, Major Irene Alanis. “Everywhere from California to Florida.”

Alanis said the increase in starting compensation to $60,000 has also helped the recruiting efforts.

The department is on track to meet its recruiting goal for the fiscal year and expects this upswing to continue.
