(WBAP/KLIF) – Senator John Cornyn seemed to have good things to say about a possible democratic challenger to his senate seat.
Cornyn thinks State Senator Royce West has indicated he will announce a run.
“I see that Senator Royce West, who I’ve known a long time, who has been a leading member of the Texas Senate, is going to make an announcement,” Cornyn said. “By all indications I hear he is going to get into the race.”
Cornyn said of all who are running, West is the only one who has a record of public service in the Texas Senate.
A former Air Force helicopter pilot and a congressman from Houston are also seeking the nomination.
“I think some of the democrats in the State of Texas are getting a little tired of having Chuck Schumer and the national democratic party try to pick their nominee,” Cornyn said.
Cornyn thinks there will be a spirited primary and he says he will be ready for the eventual nominee.
