
Lufkin (WBAP/KLIF) – Lufkin Police say they have identified the woman who took a video of herself licking a bucket of Blue Bell ice cream in a Walmart store and putting it back in the display case. The video went viral and has been viewed 11 million times. After the video hit social media, Blue Bell corporate instructed all of its division managers to see if they could identify the store location. According to police, a Lufkin division manager called, saying he believed it was a Lufkin Walmart based on the store’s unique merchandising which matched the video. Blue Bell says it has retrieved what they believed to be the tainted ice cream container. Detectives managed to pull surveillance video placing a woman matching the suspect description in the Lufkin store on June 28th around 11 p.m. The woman’s identity is not being released as the investigation continues. Lufkin’s Director of Public Safety says appropriate charges will be filed once the woman is found. Tampering with a consumer product is a second-degree felony and could send you away for 2-20 years. Blue Bell has removed all half-gallons of the “Tin Roof” product from the store.
