FORT WORTH, Texas (WBAP/KLIF News) — A young married couple from Fort Worth will be flown home after their mysterious deaths in Fiji.
Michelle and David Paul died nearly 40 days ago while enjoying a dream vacation. Their bodies have remained in Fiji while investigators search for the cause of death.
Sister-in-law Tracey Calanog told WFAA the CDC has ruled influenza or infectious disease as their cause of death. Calanog said, “They’d been throwing up for eight or nine hours.” Now the focus of the investigation is being turned to toxins that Pauls may have ingested including the possibility of poisoning.
Michelle’s father Marc Calanog told WFAA they hope to have the bodies back home for a funeral and burial within a week.
