FARMERS BRANCH (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Farmers Branch police officer involved in the fatal shooting of a stolen vehicle suspect in Dallas earlier this month has been indicted for murder.
Officer Michael Dunn allegedly shot and fatally wounded the driver of a truck that was reported stolen out of Irving.
Video shows Dunn firing on a truck as it pulls out of a parking spot at a strip mall. The driver makes a wide turn around and away from the officer.Tthe truck then crashes into several parked cars.
The suspect was identified as Juan “Johnny” Moreno. Two people inside the truck were not injured.
“This officer is a murderer. He’s been charged with murder, and we hope that he goes to prison,” said Carlos Quintinilla, who represents Moreno’s family. “It should send a very clear message to all police officers that this is unacceptable.”
The Farmers Branch Police Department placed Dunn on administrative leave and did not terminate his employment.
The department also said its waiting for a review from the Dallas Police Department, because the shooting took place in Dallas.
