TxDOT Winds Down Public Hearing Phase of US 80 Project

Dallas- Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF) – Tonight is the final chance for the public to weigh in on TxDOT’s proposed improvements to Highway 80 in Dallas and Kaufman counties

Michelle Raglon with TxDOT says the project affects people in Dallas, Mesquite, Forney, and Sunnyvale.

“We’re looking to reconstruct US 80 main lanes from 6 to 8 lanes and have continuous frontage roads.”

The project would also displace four businesses and result in the demolition of the Big Town Boulevard Bridge.

The fields development project would bring high rises, ten thousand homes, and up to 18 million square feet of commercial space to frisco’s largest undeveloped section of land.

That stretches from Preston Road to the West side of the Dallas North Tollway, and all the way up to Highway 380, more than twice the size of Dallas Love Field.

The Dallas Morning News reports construction could begin next year…with the entire project taking up to two DECADES.

The public forum begins at 7:00 tonight at the Holman Center in Henrietta.
