Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – An historic and reportedly haunted hotel in North Texas has new owners.
The Baker Hotel, in Mineral Wells has been purchased by a group Dallas-based Investors based in Dallas-Fort Worth. According to WFAA-TV, the group told a large crowd of Mineral Ridge residents on Thursday, the project will bring hundreds of immediate construction jobs to the city.
According to the Dallas Morning News, the group plans to start work right away on restoring the 90 year old landmark to its former glory.
They say they plan to turn the 14-story building into a luxury resort hotel, spa and conference center.
The hotel has been vacant since 1972, but in its heyday, hosted celebrities like Clark Gable, Judy Garland, Marlene Dietrich, and President Lyndon B. Johnson.
