Man Faces Up to 20 Years in Prison on Child Abandonment Charges

Garland, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – A Garland man faces up to 20-years in prison after being indicted on two felony counts of child abandonment.

In late April, Garland police arrested 25-year Jonathon Moses Ocanas after he allegedly left his two young children in his car on an I-30 overpass while he went looking for gas.

The children, ages 3 and 5 were reportedly spotted sitting on the ledge of the overpass, by a motorist who called police.

Court records show that Ocanas is a repeat offender for offenses like pot possession, burglary and DWI.
