GRAND PRAIRIE (WBAP/KLIF News) — The Grand Prairie School Board will delay any action to change the start and end times at middle school and high schools.

The decision came at Tuesday night’s board meeting, where the superintendent and board said they want more time to study whether or not having more time to sleep would translate into better grades.

The proposal would have middle school kids starting class at 7:50 AM, which is an hour earlier than it is currently. High school students would begin classes at 8:45 AM.

The district said research at other school districts shows the change works. Many parents say it is unnecessary and disrupts their schedules.
