Volunteers are working to put up a three-quarter scale replica of Washington D.C.’s Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Lewisville Lake Park.
The Wall That Heals exhibit will be open to the public 24 hours a day and will be accompanied by the Mobile Education Center. Lewisville is one of three Texas tour stops in 2019 for The Wall That Heals, but it is the only North Texas tour stop.
The Wall replica is made up of 140 numbered panels and stands 375 feet long and 7.5 feet tall. Like the original Memorial, The Wall That Heals is erected in a chevron-shape.
Matt Martucci with the City of Lewisville said it should be ready by 5pm Wednesday night until Sunday at around 3pm.
The traveling exhibit honors more than 3 million Americans who served during the Vietnam War.
“Visitors will be able to leave flowers or flags, do name rubbing… everything that they’ll be able to do in Washington D.C. they’ll be able to do here,”Martucci said.
The city is still seeking volunteers, if you would like to work a volunteer shift email [email protected].
They will also need volunteers to take the memorial down.
